Crocodile And His Clock: Time Management

Tick....Tock. Tick.......Tock. Tick.....the clock strikes 12:00pm and you are still sitting in front of your planner wondering why everything is so blank and yet your life is so piled with things to do. It’s almost as if you are racing the crocodile with his clock trying to figure out why you don’t have enough time in the day to even simply sit down and plan your life without feeling rushed, overworked, overwhelmed or frustrated. It‘s nerve racking and A huge headache sometimes. So what normally happens? The clock keeps going and we waste more time so we give up on our planner and make the most of the week

There’s always one wish that will forever be screamed and that is “I wish there was more time in a day!” We’ve heard that wish so many times throughout our lives and we have said it a few times while working a non-stop 10 to 11 hour shifts, planning events and then coming home to find ourselves cleaning and working some more. It is tiring!!!!

Well, for some of us entrepreneurs, time management comes naturally. To others, it takes some work and maybe a lot of dedication to stick to a time schedule. Well, lucky for you, we have seen the ups, the downs, the rush and the silence of time management and here is the thing; everyone’s schedule will not look the same and every hour counts!!! Even the down time! So, let’s start off small, shall we. Look at your planner. Yes, your planner that starts in April but we are now in August and it’s still blank. Let’s start there. Get out your pen, highlighters or markers, something with color and let’s begin. What are your non-negotiable? Family time? Church? Gym? Yoga? Write that down and give yourself a time limit. If Church lasts an hour or two so schedule it. Yoga takes 45 minutes to an hour, schedule it. Now let’s look at your work schedule. Highlight when you work and write your off days. It’s that easy!

“But what about my personal time, my traveling, etc?” That’s the tricky part. I personally set my personal time in the morning and at night, at least an hour each so I can use that time to do personal hygiene or just lay in bed and relax. You choose what’s comfortable to you. But here’s the tricky part. Once your “hour” is done, your hour is done! There are 24 hours in a day and out of those 24 hours we sleep 8 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less. So every moment counts, especially if you run your own business or multiple businesses. Keep in mind that you may not get everything done on your list in one day and that’s ok! Start off small. Delegate each task with what you can do in that day so you don’t burn yourself out! Time management! You manage your own time!!!!

Now, this topic can go on and on and on, but something that is key when we sat down with a Time Management Coach was that there needs to be some wiggle room in case of an emergency or something falls through. It’s ok to jump around in your day if need be because it’s YOUR day. The goal to Time Management to get your priorities and boundaries set in order to be a healthier, productive and successful BOSS BABE while maintaining a social life.

So let’s start today with your planner. Take 30 minutes out of your day and schedule the rest of your week. Let’s see how you do! GOOD LUCK!
